SOFTSWISS conducted an analysis that showed important revelations about the sports betting industry in 2024. The analysis of Quarter 4 2024 revealed that sports bettors have a preference for real-time wagering while using its platform. Due to this insight, operators will benefit through increased margins and faster capital turnover.  

It also reveals that live betting is a key factor for profitability in sports betting. 

Insights about Mobile Betting

The analysis also revealed an accelerated shift from desktop to mobile use for sports betting. The proportion of GGR accounted for by mobile betting increased from the previous year from 86% to 90%. 

This shows the importance of mobile-friendly betting solutions and a trend toward operators prioritising mobile integration of their services. Additionally, it shows that operators that value mobile integration are better positioned to win more market share in sports betting. 

Insights about Top Sports

Top sports have mostly remained the same with traditional sports as the main leaders. Football remains dominant and American Football has a top 5 position due to the Super Bowl in February. The popularity of the Super Bowl shows the relevance of major sporting events on betting behaviour. 

Additionally, ice hockey remains consistent in popularity.

There was one change in the rankings. Tennis overtook basketball to take second place to football.

The SOFTSWISS sportsbook experienced a growth trajectory on turnover. The increase was 246% compared to the quarter 1 of 2023. The month-on-month from Quarter 4 2023 to Quarter 1 2024 was 136%. 

Year-on-year revenue also experienced an increase of 251%. While month-on-month maintained a consistent growth of 136% further revealing the growing popularity and appeal of the SOFTSWISS platform to operators.
