Athletic Bilbao VS Real Valladolid Match Preview 27 April 2021

The Spanish league has rarely brought on any more excitement and surprises than it did this year, which is why Bilbao against Valladolid can turn out to be a real cracker of a game. Both teams have a lot to play for, and this game can make or break their season.

Bilbao have underperformed this season and currently find themselves in 10th place, which is low considering many pundits and their fans expected them to challenge for a top four spot. Their form has improved somewhat in recent months, and they’ve tasted defeat just once in their last 12 games in the league, at the hands of leaders Atletico Madrid, and will look to build on this upturn and maybe even try to climb up the table.

Valladolid are struggling in the league, currently languishing in 18th place after 32 games. They’re fighting tooth and nail to stay up, and have a chance to get out of the relegation zone with a win here, as that will get them into 16th. Coach Sergio Gonzalez will hope he can rally his troops and turn their fortunes in the closing weeks of the season, and live to fight in La Liga for another season.

On the injury front, the situation at both clubs is very different and could prove crucial. Bilbao have a long list of absentees which includes Alvarez, Berchiche, Capa, Muniain, Nolaskoain, Vencedor, and Zarraga, while Valladolid are only without Garcia.
