Arsenal vs Villarreal Game Preview 06 May 2021

As we roll into the final weeks of this 2020/21 season, the race for the accolades is heating up, as we have Arsenal vs Villarreal going for the second leg. The Yellow Submarine comes into the game sporting a 2-1 lead from the game at El Madrigal.

The Gunners come into the game with a mixed form both home and away, and will look to make a strong finish to this campaign. Their chances of finishing in the top four of the EPL are very slim, which means that winning the Europa League is their only chance of playing European football next season. Coach Mikel Arteta is still struggling to put his squad together and impose his brand of football, but a win here will do their chances a world of good in boosting both morale and confidence. 1-0 would be more than enough, although it’s more than expected considering the stature of the club in world football.

Villarreal on the other hand have a knack of going all out, as their record in their last ten games shows. They either win or lose, they don’t satisfy themselves with scraps. In their last 10, they’ve won 7 and lost three, and considering they have Europa League guru and former Arsenal manager Unai Emery behind the wheel, their chances of making it through don’t seem so bleak all of the sudden. An added motivation is the fact that he’ll want to stick it up to his previous employers, and what a better way than his first return to the Emirates Stadium since moving on?

On the injury and suspension front, the situation at both clubs is a bit worrying, with Ceballos out after earning himself a red card in the previous clash, while Lacazette, Luiz, and Tierney all doubt for Arsenal. Villareal will have to do without stalwarts Capoue, Foyth, and Iborra all out, the former with a suspension, and the latter two with injuries.
